Matthew Pottage
Hello!
This is my space among the team of writers at The Garden Collective and I’m delighted you are here.
I write on the Garden Collective as it is an unedited platform where I can be honest, share genuine advice and lots of plant inspiration. While I love writing in magazines, there are moments when you have to toe the party line, but sometimes, the compost is simply rubbish, or the plant is simply a naff new introduction, or the critter in your garden is actually a pest, but it’s unfashionable to brand it as such.
Well, here, I can share my experiences first hand. Having had twenty years at the RHS, with ten as Curator of RHS Garden Wisley, and now Head of Horticulture and Landscape Strategy for The Royal Parks, I have a few tonne bags of experience to draw on.
You might have heard me on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time where I’ve been a panellist for nearly 10 years. That’s a lot of debate with dear Christine Walkden over her love of sprouts! I hope you will laugh and learn if you join me, and please dip into my archive pieces too – talking and writing about plants is as fun as growing them for me, and I hope you’ll always find something of interest.
