Hi - I’m Sandra, gardener, journalist, author, magic lanternist and Ellen Willmott obsessive. I’m also a founder member of the Garden Collective.

What I love about the Collective is that we may all be gardeners, we may all be writers, but we are all so different. Obviously, my thing is obscure garden history with occasional snippets of crazy folklore or a good old delve into some horticultural rabbit hole. I may also sometimes include mad plans for impossible areas of my own gristly patch of green, usually pitching off on some kind of historical rant. It’s not ALWAYS about Ellen, honest…

But here’s the thing - you get all sorts, on different days, straight to your inbox. Proper writing by proper gardeners who actually know what they’re talking about.

I might get practical advice from heavyweight designers, inspirational ideas from hands-on practitioners or the philosophical musings of beautiful garden minds. I might get light-hearted camaraderie, gossip and gardening chat in our two regular podcasts, or certain National Horticultural Treasures talking about aspects of gardening I won’t find anywhere else.  It’s a regular email, podcast and website not to be missed.

My favourite bit is that I never know what’s going to appear. When I see a Garden Collective email, it might be about ANYTHING. All I know is that it will be horticulturally based, it will be beautifully written by people I trust - and that I will enjoy it.
