Gardens and horticulture have long been undervalued, but how do we work out what they really mean to us as a society in the UK? I took the reins at The Garden Collective's Deep Dive podcast this week to chat to RHS Director General Clare Matterson about the new RHS State of Gardening report: from gardens as a huge ecological asset to the UK, to the role they play in bringing people together. We discuss the barriers to accessing gardens and green spaces faced by the UK population, especially children, and chat about how community gardening can help people to get involved with horticulture.
